Governments exist to protect the rights of life, liberty, and property of its individual citizens, Ohio has a proud history of doing just that. However, as of late the State of Ohio has used its power to limit free speech, restrict free trade, and intrude on personal privacy. I believe we need to end the power grab by the State and return rightful power to the constituents.
The amount of government overreach, excessive spending and waste has led to an unnecessarily high Income Tax. I propose revising the budget to minimize state spending to reduce the debt and lower Income Taxes.
Individuals are responsible for their own actions; government cannot and should not protect us from ourselves. This being said, the prohibition of marijuana in the United States and the State of Ohio has lead us into a fight we should not win. The criminialization of marijuana has succeeded in imprisoning millions of non-violent offenders. By legalizing marijuana we could have safer dispensaries from reputable sources, a proven drop in opiod addiction, and save taxpayer dollars in enforcement. For this reason I believe in ending the marijuana prohibition and pardoning all non-violent drug crimes.
